Position Purpose & Summary

The Pectin Raw Material Sourcing Manager is responsible for the global sourcing of all raw materials for the production of pectin according to Product line strategy. That includes the definition and execution of the best sourcing strategy in order to cover the need of raw materials at the right specification, at the best cost in use, on a sustainable basis, in line with risk position targets and Product line growth plan.

Principal Accountabilities

50% MANAGE PURCHASING PROCESSES AND SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS FOR PECTIN RAW MATERIAL INCLUDING DRY CITRUS PEELS, DRY APPLE POMACE AND FRESH PEELS FOR CTS PECTIN ASSETS

  • Independently manages purchasing process end to end to cover the pectin raw material needs and manage supplier network

  • Obtain and analyze IBP raw materials projected consumption for each plant

  • Gather all specifications/requirements from internal stakeholders

  • Use and develop the current supplier footprint for maximum benefit, define ratio of multiyear and spot contracts

  • Collect supplier bids and perform the most complete analysis of results (e.g. determining best value supplier from multiple supplier quotes, based on total cost of ownership)

  • Negotiate all contract terms and conditions, including legal wording finalization and support from management

  • Independently manage the coordination with Supply chain, Product line, PPD and Plant on key topics:

  • Analyze the needs to cover from the IBP process, in light of historical needs and Product line growth plan,

  • Independently manage relationships with suppliers and takes actions to research and resolve the variances with supplier contract terms and conditions (systemic quality or service problems, etc.)

  • Work with applicable plant/locations staff to research and resolve supplier issues;

  • Proactively ensure that purchasing position is and will be within limits of value, volume and stress. Provide required reportings to Risk management and present business case to CRC if necessary.

  • Provide accurate reportings to Product line and other functions on regular or spot basis. Ensure that reporting tools, process and allocated resources allow efficient work and reliable information access

25% DEFINE LONG TERM SOURCING STRATEGY FOR PECTIN RAW MATERIAL

  • Define the 3 year/ long term sourcing strategy for the pectin product line and propose sourcing projects to reach those goals in line with the pectin business line strategy

  • Define and implement the optimal sourcing footprint in line with the sourcing strategy including selection of key raw material, key suppliers on a global scale, ratio long term and spot contract

  • Support sustainability projects on as needed basis

15% ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN RAW MATERIAL S&D INCLUDING COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE

  • Establish and maintain each pectin raw material global S&D to evaluate raw material price evolution short and mid-term to support pectin product line Price on Tour

  • Keep abreast of competitors sourcing strategies including development of new technologies

  • Participate in industry events relevant to pectin raw material (Anuga, Fruit Logistica, ICBC,….)

  • Establish contact and relationship with all pectin raw material suppliers worldwide and potential new entrants

  • Evaluate new pectin raw material projects on a global scale on existing and new sources of raw material

10% MANAGE and/or SUPPORT COST OPTIMIZATION PROJECTS

  • Independently manages relevant projects impacting pectin raw material purchasing efficiency, including:

  • Purchasing data analysis and reportings

  • Purchasing process, procedures and tools optimization

  • New Supplier/ Raw material approval by plant

  • Proactively collaborate with other functions to improve cost in use and development of pectin production:

  • Raw material quality assessment and control plan

  • Product line raw material projects in relationship with R&D and plants

  • Support of new pectin assets

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Engineering, food science or related science degree allowing a good understanding of pectin technology and raw materials

  • Global travel to raw material production regions

  • Experience in purchasing and negotiation with family owned suppliers

  • Communication skills with different cultures

  • Fluent in English

  • Basic level in Spanish

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master in purchasing or International business management

  • Intimacy with technical products

  • Proficiency in other European languages (Portugese, French, German, or Italian)

  • Fluent in Spanish
