Position Purpose & Summary
This position will be responsible for the execution of product line activities for the Cargill Industrial Specialties Asphalt Mixture product lines (hot mix, warm mix, cold mix) in the areas of agency partnership, strategy, market mapping, execution & measures, P&L management, client interaction & business partnership.
25% Agency Partnership: Develops and executes strategy for the adoption and promotion of Cargill asphalt technologies. This includes working federal/state/local agencies, sustainability organizations, trade associations and other relevant bodies to adopt specifications favorable to Cargill technologies and approval of Cargill products within existing specifications.
20% Strategy, Analytics & Planning: Using robust knowledge of marketing academy tools, develops and implements product line strategy for strategic marketing (place, price, product) and marketing communications (promotion) in alignment with broader-level Marketing strategy. Responsible for providing input in the development of the marketing research and marketing analytical approach required by the marketing strategy for a product line portfolio in alignment with broader organization goals. Responsible for providing input in the development of the branding and communication strategy and creating plans for a product line portfolio in alignment with broader organization goals (including branding strategy and communication/promotion strategy). Utilizes deep market and customer expertise to identify opportunities for new product development and existing product enhancements, understanding both customers’ needs and competitive offerings. Maintains deep product expertise, including features/functionality, value propositions, competitive positions and market dynamics.
15% Market Mapping/Business Development: Leads development of product line market mapping to determine “size of prize” and initial go-to-market strategy. Partners with local resources (CIS or 3rd party) to identify alpha/beta customers for new technology, success thresholds and eventual market strategy for the product line. Identifies and supports resources (CIS or 3rd party) to execute on initial go-to-market efforts.
10% Execution & Measures: Directs the execution of product line marketing communication and promotion efforts. Influences and collaborate with members of the sales and leadership team to enable increased profits through the implementation of tools and tactics within a product line. Is responsible for budget, reporting key performance metrics, analysis and reporting of ROI.
10% P&L Management: Manages commercial ownership and P&L responsibilities for product line and growth portfolio. Actively collaborates with procurement and scheduling at facilities to ensure production supply meets customer demand. Contributes to the identification and negotiates partnerships with key vendors; strategic vendor relationship management/support (including external manufacturers, 3rd party supply chain resources, and commercial development partners).
10% Client Interaction & Business Partnership: Leads relationships with consultants, law firms and other parties to lobby governmental organizations for the adoption and promotion of Cargill asphalt technologies. Directs rollout of marketing plans by collaborating with cross-functional personnel and with others on the marketing team to deliver on assigned tasks. Interacts with global Business senior management to influence strategy. Leads alignment of action to overall strategy for a market opportunity space.

5 or more years of experience working with road authorities, state agencies, or other road owners
10 or more years of technical or commercial experience in the asphalt industry
Ability to travel over 50%, including international travel
Chemical industry experience
Experience working / communicating across multiple geographies and within all levels of an organization
This person must be a “starter/builder” and possess a strong entrepreneurial orientation, driven to create, build and grow a new business

4 year science or technical degree
5 years chemical industry experience
Ability to maintain high level customer relationships and interact with key customers at a strategic level
Previous experience managing cross-functional commercial team's responsible development and execution of market strategies – (including product portfolio, technology pipeline, customer segmentation and commercialization).
Previous experience in development and execution of commercial roll-out strategies including development of value propositions, promotional plans, sales tools, commercial literature, and pricing plans.
International experience, or exposure to global markets
Familiar with agriculture commodities and merchandising
