As the Reliability Engineer, you are responsible for reliability improvement of multiple production lines. Activities include development, alignment & implementation of reliability excellence practices/programs. You will pro-actively work on prevention, elimination of root causes of downtime and maintenance and repair. Other tasks include project planning, contractor/vendor management; best practice application and training and support.

Major Tasks

  • You have a clear vision of maintenance and reliability of equipment.

  • You initiate and implement improvement projects to achieve the reliability objectives of production lines producing vegetable tropical oils (palm and coconut oil): increase plant reliability, performance efficiency and effectiveness, plant throughput, minimize unplanned plant interruptions, reduce costs.

  • You work together closely with colleagues of the Maintenance Department and the Operations Department to get the relevant information and data.

  • You organize meetings and communicate with all relevant stake-holders.

  • You actively communicate with the Cargill Centre of Excellences for advice, to get quicker to the best solutions for the problem

  • You are the maintenance tag for major investment projects (>EUR 1.000.000, -). This means that you are responsible for the maintainability and reliability of the new installation.

  • You decide on the necessary spare parts, review of equipment during and after construction.

  • You manage several capital investment projects to upgrade equipment (longer lifetime, improved reliability, safer, improved line speed etc.). These projects are typically in the range of EUR 10.000 – EUR 250.000.

  • You work in close collaboration with the Projects Department to ensure that projects are executed according to the applicable engineering standards, and relevant legislation, quality requirements and agreed costs.


  • Bachelors / master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Technology or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of Maintenance experience in the (process-) industry

  • Strong analyses skills, experience with problem solving methods like “root cause analysis “or kaizen

  • Project management skills to lead medium sized investment projects to upgrade and improve equipment (project size: EUR 10.000 – EUR 250.000, -).

  • Verbal and writing in Dutch and English

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems like Maximo or SAP

  • Good in managing stake-holders, setting priorities, result oriented.
