TERMINAL MANAGER

For our Global Edible Oils Site in Rotterdam Botlek we are now looking for a TERMINAL MANAGER.

In this very challenging role you are responsible for:

  • all vessel and truck unloading and loading activities (throughput: /- 700.000 ton per year)

  • site security

  • the operation of the fatty acid splitting department

  • the operation of the tank storage facility ( /- 170 tanks) and

  • site services like site cleaning and warehousing

You will lead and manage all applicable operational activities in order to achieve the location targets. You will directly or indirectly lead:

  • a team of 13 loading operators, working in shifts for truck loading (4 loading stations - /- 100 trucks per day (25.000 per year)) and unloading (1 unloading station) and the operation of the fatty acidsplitting department

  • a day shift operator for site cleaning and warehousing activities and

  • a terminal foreman to supervise/manage all sea vessel, coaster and barge unloading ( /- 700 kton/year) and loading activities at the jetty and the operation of the tank storage facility. The terminalforeman assists the loading supervisor in his/her daily work and works closely together with production and an external loading master to ensure on time in full follow-up of the (un)loading activities andcompliance with applicable harbour regulations.

  • the security contractor ( /- 12 fte) to ensure compliance with the internal security standards and security related regulations like ISPS. The loading operations supervisor is the back-up of the ISPS-officer.

  • a contractor ( /- 5 fte) for truck inspections and additive dosing

  • a loading master contractor ( /- 5 fte) to supervise vessel and barge loading and unloading at the (sea)jetty

It will be within your span of control to oversee and manage all (un)loading, security, fatty acid splitting, tank storage operation and site services related activities. You will have to ensure that the working procedures and instructions are kept up to date with respect to the specific tasks, safety, food and feed safety, health, environment, legal and harbour related regulations.

It will be your job to ensure that the direct and indirect reports are properly trained in the applicable procedures and instructions and that the direct reports follow these applicable procedures and instructions.

You will need to provide leadership skills, technical knowledge, operational experience and training and ensure that short and long term performance goals are met (like the POF – perfect order fulfilment).

You will fosters an environment for continuous improvement and innovation and ensure, in cooperation with local and central disciplines like production, master planning, in- and outbound and quality control, that the right products of the right quality are available for loading and loaded at the right time.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree (HBO) mechanical or (bio)chemical engineering, business administration (with technical affinity) or similar.

  • 5 to 10 years experience in operational logistics (e.g. tank terminal environment) and/or operations

  • Good knowledge of applicable country and local regulations

  • Good knowledge of ISO 22000, HACCP and GMP

  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Ability to think quickly, logically and analytically.

  • A holistic understanding of supply chain management and production management

  • Leadership – taking people with you, by being consistently clear on objectives, valuing the contributions of staff and colleagues and gaining their respect.
