Position Purpose & Summary:

This position is responsible for production planning and scheduling along with overall management of the Supply Chain for the Pet Treats facility in Sanger, CA. As part of the Supply Chain Management this role will be responsible for inventory management, forecasting along whit Procurement activities for packaging and raw materials. This position requires excellent communication, reporting skills to a cross functional audience with regards to production efficiencies, inventory levels, customer performance. Data analysis and data driven decision making will be key to success of this position.

Principal Accountabilities:

30% Planning and Production Scheduling-

  • Create a weekly production schedule that is optimized to run all sections of the plant efficiently

  • Refine the weekly schedule on a daily basis based on the resources available and current inventory

  • Communicate daily with the production team to ensure they have clear direction on production needs and priorities

  • Maintain all master data that controls the planning and scheduling process

  • Transfer materials as needed to accommodate the weekly plan

20% Procurement

  • Review packaging inventory and procure packaging materials as needed to accommodate expected demand

  • Place raw material orders as needed based on forecast

20% Inventory Management

  • Monitor Finished Goods and Raw material inventories to minimize warehousing.

  • Ensure inventory levels are adequate to meet customer requirements / forecast

  • Provide feedback to Sales Lead and Operations team on slow moving items and any inventory at risk of becoming obsolete. Provide direction on consume inventory on slow moving items

  • Work with Operations to manage Work in Process (WIP) inventory

10% Forecasting

  • Work with Sales Manager to receive and update customer forecast

  • Compare customer forecast to history and adjust forecast as needed

  • Utilize finished good forecast to create an expected demand for raw materials

10% Vendor Management

  • Manage suppliers and their inventories for raw materials and packaging materials

  • Work with suppliers to create strategic partnerships and reduce cost where possible

10% Reporting

  • Provide feedback across all areas of Pet Treats on production efficiencies

  • Update weekly metrics for scorecard reviews

  • Work with the Customer Service team to manage orders and provide feedback on fill rates.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field or 3 years related supply chain experience

  • Strong analytical and technology skills including demonstrated ability to utilize reporting tools, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Proven problem solving experience within cross functional teams

  • Strong cross functional relationship builder

  • Working experience in Supply Chain, Distribution Management, Quality Control and Manufacturing processes

  • Strong Customer Focus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to make data and logic driven decisions

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

  • Ability to prioritize and act with a sense of urgency

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP and AS400 Experience

  • APICS or CSCP certifications

  • Continuous Improvement certifications
