Job location(s): position is open globally, multiple locations are possible. This posting is for North America region.
You must be located in close proximity to a Cargill office located in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis, MN metro); Charlotte, NC; Gainesville, GA; or Sidney, OH.
As the Continuous Improvement Leader you are responsible for providing subject matter expertise to develop and deploy the CI strategy and approach across the 40 GEOS (Global Edible Oil Solutions) locations globally. As such this role plays a critical role in accelerating the implementation of a hands on CI culture in GEOS operations.
The role will be part of the GEOS Productivity Governance Team, driving the value realization process. The GEOS CI Leader will focus on training and coaching the sites, regional business and project teams to be self-sufficient in productivity improvement and insure long term sustainment of CI as key skill of the Manufacturing Excellence (ME) processes.
Principal Accountabilities/Major Tasks
50%Continuous Improvement Leadership and Capability Development
Develop and Implement Continuous Improvement Process Standardization into GEOS Business that is aligned with Cargill Best Practice;
Develop, select, and deploy techniques and corporate tools to make continuous improvement processes more effective and efficient and opportunity centered;
Train and coach site & regional operations and MTL teams to create and sustain CI and Manufacturing Excellence (ME) work stream gains and deliver on the value defined in GEOS Productivity Plan;
Oversee the implementation of CI Capability Development activities, drive embedding of capabilities in the GEOS business.
30%Program Execution and Value Realization
Work with the Corporate Governance team to establish goals and objectives regarding the Organization’s opportunities for improvements;
Work in partnership with leaders on the identification and execution of strategic continuous improvement plans and oversee tactical project completion;
Provide feedback on CI project selection, scope, definition, and performance to ensure alignment with business strategy;
Accountable for program administration and coordination, including the development and execution of continuous improvement deployment strategy and plans;
Set and continually manage program goals and objectives with team members and other stakeholders.
Provide functional leadership for Regional CI Leads, including PMP and KRA setting;
Manage risk, issues and remove barriers to ensure completion of milestones on task and budget.
10% Program Communication and Change
Drive continuous improvement culture change through best practice sharing, vocal advocacy, and visible leadership;
Accountable for keeping GEOS Leadership, sponsors and stakeholders aware of key program milestones, performance measures, issues and risks;
Ensure leadership alignment with program goals, objectives and approach.
Bachelors degree required or equivalent experience
10 years of proven experience leading process improvement efforts (lean and/or six sigma) in large scale production and project deployments
Experience in effectively training, coaching and encouraging execution of CI methodologies with personnel at all levels of the organization
Experience creating and executing plans to drive organizational results
Experience utilizing formal and informal networks within an organization to deliver results and remove obstacles for team members
Demonstrated ability to directly and indirectly influence a large, diverse group of stakeholders at all levels within the organization
Demonstrated background with effective communication of goals and strategies across multiple leadership levels of an organization
Proven ability to use expertise, experience, and network to manage through ambiguous situations
Demonstrated ability to manage employee performance, deliverables, and timelines;
This role requires strong competencies in the areas of leadership, communication, teamwork, interpersonal effectiveness, initiative and process discipline;
Expert in at least one continuous improvement method (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)
Ability to build strong working relationships
Business fluency in English
Ability to travel up to 60%
Advance education or Bachelor's degree specifically in business, operations, engineering, sciences, or other related field
10 years of proven experience leading process improvement efforts (Lean and/or Six Sigma) in large scale production and project deployments
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt
Working knowledge of reliability practices
Significant experience delivering process improvement projects that incorporate improvement in Process Measurement, Process Monitoring, and Process Control
Experience delivering improvement and managing complex programs in a cross-cultural global environment.
