To ensure through planned maintenance, vigilant inspections and expeditious repairs, the smooth uninterrupted and safe operation of the production plant in order to minimize production downtime.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Identify and correct any problems found in machines, equipment or processes in order to facilitate production

  • Maintain, repair and overhaul plant production equipment, building and grounds

  • Provide quick response to trouble calls by shift supervisors and or operators/technicians

  • Assist Operating Engineers in maintenance of plant utilities

  • Perform Weekly Preventive Maintenance Walkthroughs / Inspections / and Repairs on production equipment as necessary

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support projects include working on a project team in the design, installation and commissioning

  • Maintain complete & accurate records of shift logs, maintenance inspections and meter readings

  • Ensure smooth, efficient communication to the next team at shift changes

  • Actively finding new and improved ways of completing tasks

  • Participate collaboratively in process improvement teams as required

  • Any other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma

  • Red Seal Millwright Certificate

  • 2 or more years’ experience in a plant environment

  • Previous experience with processing equipment such as vacuum, pumps, air blowers, chillers, bucket elevators, conveyors, and grinders

  • Must be willing and able to work a rotating work schedule every two weeks and weekends - Rotating shifts from 7am to 3:30pm / from 3pm to 11:30pm / from 11 pm to 7:30am. Total 40 hours Monday to Friday

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada


  • Experience in the food processing industry

  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations

  • Strong mechanical maintenance experience or training to identify and troubleshoot equipment failures in various types of equipment

  • Experience with AC and DC motors and associated controllers
