This position is located at Tacoma, WA. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to ensure proper control of incoming and outgoing grain (rail, ships).The Control Room Operator will be responsible for monitoring weights and lots, keeping accurate and neat paperwork, maintaining correct Lots on bin boards and measuring bins for accounting purposes.Interacts on a regular basis with the production crew,accounting department, plant supervisor, plant manager, merchant and customers.

General Description:

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Ensure proper control of incoming / outgoing grains.

  2. Ensure paperwork is neat and correct.

  3. Keep good communication w/other workers in plant performing tasks.

  4. Monitor weights and Lots of rail, ships.

  5. Maintain correct lots on bin board.

  6. Work with front Office and Supervisor to ensure proper weights and Lots.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure proper control of incoming/outgoing grains.

  • Monitor weights and lots of rail and ships.

  • Measure bins for accounting purposes.

  • Ensure paperwork is accurate and neat.

  • Continuous communicating with Ship Loaders and Rail Unloaders of current production plans.

  • Receive direction from the front office and Supervisor in the daily activities.

  • Troubleshoot problems as required.

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation.

  • Understand and adhere to state and federal Occupational Safety and Health rules and regulations as related to plant safety. Follow all Cargill safety rules and regulations.

  • Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.

  • Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.

  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old.

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and climbing ladders.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas.

  • Must be able to operate machinery.

  • Must be able to read/write English.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to work overtime.

  • Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts.


  • Prior experience in production related work.
