Position Purpose & Summary

The Global Compensation Consultant utilizes full total rewards knowledge to consult, lead, and deliver compensation solutions for businesses and functions of Cargill. It will primarily lead complex projects and processes with limited supervision. These position generally support a specific enterprise or function and use their understanding of business and project/process requirements to deliver successful solutions. They will partner with Enterprise/Function Compensation Leaders and Global Compensation & Mobility regional leads to appropriately scope requests and activate resources for execution. They will continue to build enterprise/function-specific familiarity and expertise, which they will use to identify and propose opportunities for business/function or process improvement.

Principal Accountabilities

50% Process Leadership and Execution

  • Under limited supervision, executes and maintains total rewards processes for an enterprise or function which conform to Cargill policies.

  • Under limited supervision, provides consult to clients and stakeholders regarding the interpretation and delivery of complex total rewards programs and processes.

  • Advocate for solutions that meet or exceed needs for Compensation areas. If necessary, perform research and best practice assessment to create or propose innovative solutions.

  • Persuade stakeholders to accept new ideas, approaches, and concepts by leveraging in-depth and broad knowledge of Total Rewards processes.

  • Maintain expert knowledge of industry trends and best practices.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in multiple systems and processes.

  • Provide expertise and identification/execution of continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Act as an enterprise or function-expert in support of other regional consultants or specialists, as needed, including incentive mapping, position evaluation, or other day-to-day requests.

30% Project Leadership and Execution

  • Partner and provide feedback to the Enterprise/Function Compensation Lead and Business Relationship Manager to determine project scoping, resource requirements from Global Compensation & Mobility, and prioritization.

  • Lead projects for Enterprises/Functions, Global Compensation & Mobility, and the Total Rewards COE, and hold project team resources accountable to their deliverables and ensure project execution, and act as a point of escalation for key project stakeholders.

  • Provides input to support implementation of changes or new activities, as needed, including training, testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

  • Collaborate, lead and champion change with key internal and external stakeholders, and peers to ensure acceptance of new solutions and related processes.

10% Relationship Management

  • Create and maintain long-term working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including process and technology teams, vendors, and business partners.

  • Support the Cargill Service Delivery Model (SDM) and reinforce its utilization with key stakeholders and clients.

10% Other

  • Act as a leader in GHRS ELT meetings and discussions. Represent Global Compensation & Mobility in stakeholder meetings.

  • Complete research and analysis on market trends, impact assessment, market data, emerging market assessment, etc.

  • Utilize highly complex reports/materials appropriately with Business HR, managers, and employees to create insights and understanding of compensation decisions, patterns, and compliance.

  • Support total rewards Change Communication Education (CCE) initiatives.

  • May provide guidance/oversight to other Global Compensation & Mobility consultants and/or specialists.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5 or more years of Human Resources/Business or relevant experience

  • 3 or more years Compensation experience

  • Ability to travel from time to time, as required, including internationally

  • Demonstrated experience participating in change efforts characterized by effective communications and strong partnerships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification in total rewards

  • Working experience with Microsoft Excel, including; vlookup, pivot tables, nested formulas

  • Graduate Degree in HR or Finance

  • Experience leading teams in multiple locations simultaneously (abroad)

Other relevant information to the position

This position will provide incumbents with the opportunity to develop deep business or functional expertise while leading global project and process delivery. Incumbents will have frequent interaction with the broader global compensation & mobility teams, and the Total Rewards COE. This position will prepare incumbents for future roles within Total Rewards by deepening expertise in Compensation policy and strategy, managing a portfolio or projects, and delivering strategic solutions for clients.
