Diamond V a Cargill inc. brand is a global, research-focused, technology-driven organization with-in Cargill Animal Nutrition Enterprise that develops and manufactures natural products to improve nutrition, health, and performance in food animal and companion animal species.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Responsible for providing sales and technical leadership for Diamond V’s Equine and Companion Animal business in North America. Responsible for the relationships with customer companies as it relates to the specie segments. Works closely with the Diamond V Field and HQ Team to coordinate efforts that ensure segment growth and customer satisfaction. Optimize the sale of Diamond V products in the equine and companion animal markets.


Include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Work with the Director of National Accounts and other key stakeholders to develop and execute the Equine and Companion Animal business, marketing, and account plan.

  • Maintains a database of current customers, prospects and influencers in the company specified, customer relationship management program.

  • Develop good working relationships with various departments within the designated National Account companies (management, sales, marketing, research and technical services).

  • Conducts product information and sales training for customer sales, marketing and technical personnel.

  • Provide input and recommendations to Director of Research regarding Equineand Companion Animalresearch plans.

  • Provide input and recommendations to Director of Marketing regarding development of marketing and communications plans as well as development of collateral materials.

  • Attends trade shows and industry events to represent the Company and keep abreast of the competition and the marketplace.

  • Remains alert to competitor activities and products; Collects samples, literature, labels, etc. and forwards to the Director of Technical Services as well as the Directors of North American Sales.

  • Works with the Directors of North American Sales, Director of Marketing and North America teammates to develop and implement customer sales and marketing plans.

  • Maintains company auto by keeping it clean and in good repair and properly maintains other equipment as assigned.

  • Completes monthly sales and expense reports according to established procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in animal or equine science.

  • 2 or more years of sales or technical service experience in equine/companion animal industry

  • 1 or more years of working with feed formulations and nutrition programs

  • Valid drivers license

  • Traveling up to 75% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Training in animal science, nutrition, and health

  • Advanced technical degree (Masters of Science (MS), PhD or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM))

  • Practical experience and background with companion animal and farm store species as well as feed and farm store businesses

  • Ability to write clearly and understandably for business letters, memos, reports, etc.

  • Must be a self-starter.

  • Considerable mental concentration is required to work effectively under constant time pressures and with frequent interruption.

  • Good analytical ability: Identify and analyze problems, with limited standard procedures; propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, carry out decisions made and follow up when appropriate.

  • Mathematical skills: Ability to accurately apply concepts of mathematics and statistics to practical situation.

  • Ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential business information.

  • Extensive sedentary work involving sitting in a car or at a desk for extended periods of time.

  • Walking, standing and exerting up to 50 pounds of force are required occasionally.

  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to grasp, and/or feel objects or controls.

  • Talking, hearing, reading, writing, bending/stooping, and climbing stairs are required.

  • Required to use laptop computer, video projector, cell phone and other electronic equipment as needed.

  • Duties require close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

  • Involves some outside work with possible exposure to temperature extremes.
