There is an exciting opportunity for an Accounting & Finance Lead (A&F Lead) located at our Waco, TX location. The plant accounting and finance lead functions as a business partner and leader within the plant leadership team. Additionally, they will lead the A&F team that includes closing the books with assistance from Cargill Business Services and Financial Shared Services, produce daily operational results of plant performance, ensure cost standards are accurate and show plant performance, analyze variances from standard to actual, be able to work with corporate business managers to help analyze product costs, as well as work with decision support corporate staff, and FP&A corporate staff on analyses projects. The A&F lead will also ensure that the location has adequate controls in place to prevent or minimize business failures. This position leads a team that reports on the turkey processing segment and cooked meats processing segment.
40% Fiduciary & Controls
Leads day-to-day accounting operations required to support the business
Applies a substantial and broad understanding of the business to conduct standard financial analyses of the balance sheet to ensure proper controls over financial reporting
Monitors and measures compliance to the internal global control framework
Ensures accurate labor and yield reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis
Ensure accurate reporting, closing of books monthly, compliance with GAAP accounting, and adherence to financial reporting policies.
Be a champion of internal controls by maintaining awareness and analyzing processes to identify any fiduciary risks.
Analyze standard cost variances and work closely with costing teams to ensure accuracy
40% Business Partnering
Lead Plant Finance activities to provide insights into weekly operational metrics such as Yield, Inventory adjustments, Labor, and Overhead
Partner closely with the local management team to look for ways to improve key metrics and report out to Finance and BOSC leadership
Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and challenge results
Collaborate and benchmark with other Protein finance professionals to share best practices and learnings
Provides thought leadership that identifies and implements process simplification, standardization and improvement
Leads annual planning for location and work with other management leaders to develop and analyze key budget inputs
Assist in analyzing payback and spending for capital projects
10% Talent Management
Lead highly engaged staff to support the location and Cargill Protein strategies.
Supports Cooked Supervisor to provide performance management, training, engagement, and succession planning for Waco staff
Drives process improvement changes and encourages the sharing of best practices.
- Support the BOSC A&F function and local management with any assigned projects

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (Accounting Preferred)
3 years accounting experience
Highly analytical, can bring insights and drive change
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels and functions
Driven, self-motivated, positive, responsible, accountable, flexible
History of providing accurate and timely results
Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills
3 years or more meat plant experience
Cost accounting experience
A good understanding and ability to learn reporting and database tools
