The purpose of the Corporate Strategy Associate is to work closely with Cargill’s Executive Team, Enterprise and Group Leaders, Functions and others to develop and implement corporate strategy. The Associate will also be involved in supporting Enterprise Strategy Lead(s) and relevant Enterprise and Group strategy teams to work on local/specific strategy projects.
Working within Cargill's Corporate Strategy Development group provides an exciting leadership development opportunity! You will gain solid experience in strategy as well as corporate development – from evaluating market entry opportunities to negotiating and structuring deals. You will have the opportunity not only to advise, but also to help the business implement your recommendations – whether you are leading an integration team or a profit improvement workshop at a plant. You will sit at the table and help the top leaders of one of the largest privately held companies in the world solve their toughest strategic questions. You will think about how to manage the risks and leverage the opportunities presented by the biggest global issues facing the world today – from food security, resource scarcity, and climate change to global trade flows and new technologies. 25% Problem solving, including developing and testing hypotheses, qualitative and quantitative data gathering and analysis driving to feasible solutions\
25% Written and verbal communications, including developing presentation materials and presenting to business partners
20% Collaboration with business partners to gather information, create buy in for recommendations, etc.
20% Supporting director/manager with project management by planning and structuring work
10% Active participation on department initiatives including training, recruiting and informal mentorship and coaching
Bachelor's degree or higher
1 year corporate strategy, high caliber strategy consulting firm and/or related business experience
Ability to travel up to 50%
Demonstrated leadership/teaming skills
Demonstrated problem solving abilities, especially complex, ambiguous problems requiring integrated application of skills (e.g., finance, marketing, strategy, operations)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Master’s/MBA degree or higher
