Description

The business development representative is responsible to acquire new customers for our food ingredients shared sales team. This will occur by executing the sales strategy and tactics such as lead management and prospecting to create new demand for our products.

Principal Accountabilities

Build New Customer Relationships 40%

  • Identify new prospective customers that align with business strategies and goals.

  • Initiate relationships with prospects and leads utilizing phone, e-mail, and social media.

  • Builds relationships with a variety of key customer stakeholder’s, influencers, and decision makers in the prospective customer’s organizations.

  • Being accountable for the overall success of prospective customer relationship and closing sales.

  • Delivers on sales performance/financial targets/budgets (sales volume, prices, revenue, profitability)

  • May participate in the development of annual fiscal year sales budget

Research & Identify Customer / Business Needs 30%

  • Researches and identifies customer requirements and expectations

  • Partners and leverages extensive internal network of support functions (i.e. Go-To-Market organizations, Marketing, R&D, Operations) as well as with senior level managers to develop an understanding of prospective accounts and establish strategies to meet their needs to win business.

  • Develop and execute plan to pursue prospects.

  • Utilize sales & marketing strategies and tactics (i.e. product/market segmentation, pricing, channels of distributions) provided to effectively aligned with the regional/local marketplace practices and business strategies.

  • Keep up-to-date with relevant product and market knowledge, customer landscapes, market trends, and innovations.

Solution Proposal & Development / Negotiation & Sale Execution 30%

  • Maximizing the ability to deliver new and/or existing value propositions and solutions.

  • Develops and supports the translation of business plans and sales strategy.

  • Utilizes sales effectiveness techniques to understand buyers needs by gathering detailed information/facts.

  • Qualify prospective business to ensure fit with our capabilities, business strategies, and path to market.

  • Possesses solid expertise of negotiation techniques that focuses on long-term customer relationship and “win-win” outcomes.

  • Executes on customer pricing programs against established market pricing policy and procedures. Works with pricing teams to make pricing changes to further the sales prospects into closed deals.

  • Closes new business (non-current customers) and ensures the successful transition of customers to respective Account Managers.

  • Partnering with relevant stakeholders on detailed execution of quoting, contracting, customer setup & forecasting.

  • Utilizes CRM tool to fully document customer interactions and details about leads and opportunities.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 6 years of relevant work experience

  • 3 years sales or related work experience

  • Successful completion and passing of online sales assessment within 7 days of application date

  • Ability to travel up to 10% for trade-shows, training, and company meetings as required

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and understand the customer’s business needs, financial situation, organization structure, decision making process and business strategies

  • Proven experience working within a matrixed organization

  • Excellent communication (listening, written, and oral) and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills, focus, and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with solid performance/results

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Relentless determination and courage to get things done

  • Effective problem-solving skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, CRM and aptitude for learning new technologies
