Description

The Global Strategic Pricing Leader is a key leadership position with responsibility for leading the vision, implementation and execution of strategic pricing across the Global Edible Oils Solution (GEOS) Group of Food Ingredients Bioindustrial (FIBI). Responsible for the strategic development and business optimization of the long term contracts portfolio within the different GEOS regions.

The Global Strategic Pricing Leader is responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the strategic pricing processes within GEOS. The Pricing Manager has accountability for delivering pricing excellence and actively driving the achievement of financial targets related to pricing for each participating region. The Global Strategic Pricing Manager reports directly to the GEOS North America Regional Managing Director and has dotted line management responsibilities for all Strategic Pricing Directors within GEOS Globally.

The Global Strategic Pricing Leader is a member of the Global GEOS XLT Leadership Team.

Principal Accountabilities

Leadership :

  • Develop road map for world class strategic pricing capability.

  • Provide clear guidance, support, leadership and where required change management in the execution of the different pricing processes in achieving the different product lines and regional objectives.

  • Mentor and coach the pricing function organization and indirectly the commercial teams

  • Provide thought leadership to identify and execute on actions to improve profitability. Partner with other functions to ensure changes result in sustainable value creation

  • Drive any needed cultural changes to inspire the organization urgency.

  • Increase the strategic pricing capability throughout the sales organization to reach the targets.

  • Ensure deliberate linking and synergies between pricing and sales effectiveness best practices.

  • Work closely with other BUs to understand Cargill and industry best practices. Lead GEOS towards a high performing Strategic Pricing organization.

  • Build the talent and talent pipeline to sustain global capability.

Strategy:

  • Set pricing targets to maximize profitability, utilizing all available information (strategy, market, cost, competition etc.) to understand and anticipate market changes

Support the GEOS product line and regional strategy execution through the different strategic pricing models

  • Maintain pricing subject matter expertise, staying abreast of developments and best practices\

  • Facilitate the strategic pricing process to ensure pricing targets are set by product line managers considering all means to maximize profitability. The Pricing manager should utilize all available information (strategy, market, cost, competition etc.) to understand and anticipate market changes.

  • Be the pricing subject matter expert for the group, staying abreast of developments and best practices

Business Results:

  • Manage the strategic pricing process for the different product lines and thus support the achievement of 1) the different business (= mainly financial) objectives and 2) specific customer and market targets using the customer segmentation process.

  • Optimize the margin structure in the long term contract models on behalf of the different GEOS Commercial Managers.

  • Drive the adoption of—or improvement in—pricing strategies, competencies, processes, systems, tools and incentives.

  • Deliver on the BU Strategic Pricing Gross margin goals.

  • Identify and implement pricing models to optimize the margin structure in the long term contract models working with the different account managers..

  • Work closely with the distribution manager to optimize pricing and profitability at the core BU distributors.

Process:

  • Ensure development and implementation of the strategic pricing process.

  • Develop a standard process for the implementation and execution of Long Term contracts strategy by product line.

  • Develop tools and processes to improve quality and delivery efficiency of pricing function

  • Optimize connection with adjacent commercial processes like customer segmentation and customer contact process

  • Integrate Strategic pricing into the suite of GEOS commercial and finance tools currently in place.

Analysis/Metrics:

  • Develop and facilitate the analytics required to measure the businesses performance relative to the market and competition

  • Lead the execution and understanding of our competitiveness in the market by facilitating the gathering and benchmarking of competitive data in coordination with marketing leadership

Qualifications

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Ability to travel 30% globally in role

  • 10 or more years commercial, direct sales, finance, and/or grain merchandising experience

  • Understanding of customer economics, value drivers and decision drivers

  • Strategic thinker; creative and capable structured problem solver.

  • Well-developed commercial instincts.

  • Proven ability to make important commercial decisions with less than perfect information

  • Collegial/collaborative style; demonstrated ability to work closely with others to conceptualize, test and implement new ideas

Preferred:

  • 5 years of Strategic Pricing experience.

  • Proven ability to effectively influence C-Suite level talent across regions and cultures

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline

  • Professional Certification in Pricing

  • Knowledge of pricing optimization software

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to model Cargill and GEOS Values and Ethics

  • Continous Learning Mindset

  • Provide deep functional subject matter expertise in Strategic Pricing
