Position Purpose & Summary

This position is part of the BOSC (Business Operations & Supply Chain) PMO (Portfolio Management Office) team which leads and manages projects across the BOSC functions. This person will provide portfolio and project management leadership to at least one BOSC Function. This position may also provide appropriate portfolio reporting to the BOSC leadership team.

Principal Accountabilities

30% Project Leadership

  • Leads projects utilizing a thorough knowledge of project and portfolio management, as well as full business/technical acumen.

  • Mentors the project team and BOSC functional leads, identifying and implementing best practices.

  • Facilitates periodic project reviews utilizing a thorough knowledge of the project delivery process, providing coaching and development for project teammembers as appropriate.

  • Identifies, recommends and implements project management best practices based on expert knowledge of project management.

  • Builds and leads project teams to achieve organizational goals.

  • Participates in and helps to facilitate the BOSC portfolio review team meeting and provide any needed portfolio reporting for the BOSC leadershipteam.

  • Other duties as assigned

25% Project Planning

  • Defines project objectives and scope utilizing expert knowledge of project management practices and procedures.

  • Develops the Integrated Project Plan for projects with the highest cost and risk.

  • Accountable for the project management plan

20% Project Execution

  • Leads the execution of projects with the highest cost and risk.

  • Integrates people and other resources to carry out the project management plan for the project.

  • Successfully manage and monitor progress to ensure project objectives are delivered on time and within budget, and business results are realized, forprojects with the highest cost and risk.

  • Makes decisions and takes actions to achieve results.

  • Manages project risks and issues.

  • Be the final point of approval for contingency plans and scope changes.

15% Project Control

  • Regularly measures and monitors project progress to identify variances from the plan and make needed corrections for projects with the highest costand risk.

  • Contains and resolves issues within the project that do not require project sponsor attention.

  • Escalate risks and issues as and when necessary to appropriate responsible persons.

  • Follow up for resolution.

10% Business Results

  • Accountable for the delivery of projects.

  • Accountable for providing the Project Sponsor and stakeholders with a routine status of the project, actively communicating issues and threats, andensuring that leadership alignment is a priority.

  • Works with business to ensure product is successfully implemented and benefits and value are captured for the highest cost and risk projects.

  • Ensures successful completion of all project phases and closure of all aspects of the project.

  • Recognize and celebrate success.

  • Capture lessons learned

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Certification in Project Management

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels within the organization

  • Strategic thinking/problem solving

  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience as a project lead or assistant.

  • Proven team leadership/coaching/mentoring

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, active inquiry skills

  • Relationship building at all levels and cross-function/platform

  • Negotiation, facilitation, stakeholder management

  • Cost/quality/schedule controls

  • Demonstrated personal development skills by actively seeking feedback from others and modifies behavior accordingly

  • Ability to work non-standard hours, from time to time, due to work demand.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA, etc.)

  • 7 years minimum PM experience managing projects with budget of $1-$5 million spend.

  • Business experience and understanding of Cargill is preferred.

  • Managing complex programs in a cross-cultural global environment is highly desirable.
