The position holder will be responsible for providing support to the ongoing analysis of raw materials and feed on site. This will include daily collection of material, sampling of raw material and feed, processing QA documents and auditing. The Quality Assurance Technician will maintain the laboratory equipment, work to consolidate, analyse and present data.

  • Conduct raw material analysis on dry material and oils, collecting feed samples for both in house and external laboratory analysis

  • Analysing data from tests conducted, flagging any out of specification materials and notifying the Senior QA technician in the event of out of specification results

  • Using laboratory equipment to conduct the sampling, ensure all records of equipment calibration and maintenance are kept up to date and manage inventory of spares

  • Management of samples (including retained samples) for testing or sending to external testing laboratories

  • Run reports and extract data for use for more senior Quality team members

  • Checking production batch records to ensure feed meets legal and Cargill quality standards and perform any investigations where necessary.

Qualifications

  • HND in food science, food studies or food technology or similar experience. Further education with a science/food technology related qualification. A Degree in a Science based subject (including Food Technology, Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology ) is advantageous

  • Formal qualification in auditing is preferred but not essential

  • Proven experience working with a variety of laboratory techniques and instrumentation

  • I.T literate including advanced proficiency in Excel, (including but not limited to; pivot tables, graphs, data sorting)

  • Self-starter; highly motivated and able to work independently

  • Teamwork; ability to work in a cross-functional team

  • Fast learning and self-development: curiosity to learn

  • Willingness to take responsibility, accountability and initiative

  • Able to proactively identify and resolve problems

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills in fluent written and verbal English

  • Proven experience in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
