The Cost Accountantposition will perform cost accounting duties for 6 Case Ready facilities and 6grind plants.These duties includedeveloping accurate product costing for business managers and sales for newproducts with tight turn arounds.Otherduties are maintaining production models in PRISM including updating yields,labor, overhead rates, and packaging bill of materials.They also analyze variances and assist in theprocess of updating standards as part of this variance analysis.They also perform budgeting processes whichincludes overhead allocation and review of the standards.New products introductions many times can getcomplex and require an analytical person to ensure we are costing our products mostappropriately.The position alsomonitors a weekly revaluation process that is performed in Bangalore, India soworking with others closely is very important.This position will partner with A&F Leads at the plants, businessmanagers, product leads and certain sales positions.A strong understanding of cost accounting andplant accounting would be highly beneficial.This position will report to the BOSCCosting & Yield Managerlocated in Wichita, KS.

Principal Accountabilities

60% Accurate Product Costing

  • Develop new product costings accurately with limited information at times basis business manager inputs and or sometimes with more perfect information both with accurate product cost

  • Create and maintain production models with new products with a specification into the ERP system and ensure the cost is accurate and updated through the MOC process

  • Monitor weekly revaluation process and ensure that all products are costed accurately

  • Perform annual budgeting process including large scale updates to all PM’s and updating of overhead costs

20% Analysis

  • Perform weekly plant variance analysis

  • Perform periodic product cost comparisons and analyze differences

  • Perform periodic standards review and assist in the process to reset riances

20% Business Partnering

  • Work with business managers on developing new product costs

  • Work with business managers on analyzing product costs

  • Work with Finance professionals on answering questions on product costs

  • Work with A&F Leads on helping them understand standards and variance analysis

  • Work with A&F Leads on the annual budget process including the overhead allocation process.



Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

2 years accounting experience

Highly analytical, can bring insights and drive change

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels and functions

Driven, self-motivated, positive, responsible, accountable, flexible

Demonstrates strong leadership skills


Meat industry experience

Plant experience

Experience budgeting and analysis of variances

Cost accounting experience.
