Reporting to Origination Merchant, the position is responsible for working with Merchandizing, supply chain, product line, and Accounting & Finance to align and provide needed visibility on merchandizing risk/cost, cost of goods and inputs that drive those costs.

GEOS-Specialties business operates in USA, Canada (5 locations in NA) and Australia (1 location). GEOS-Specialties has above $ 260 mln gross investment, $580 mln net sales and operates with GEOS NA, CIS and GOSC businesses in USA, Canada, Australia and EMEA, and is a global leader in production of specialty oil seeds (Canola).

The primary activity within this role is to support gain clarity on how COGS are budgeted, accounted for and reported, in addition as they translate in margin implications. In addition, this individual will be expected to work closely with other functional teams to implement efficient processes and controls and help drive accountability on origination costs. The individual is expected to perform financial analysis, and have a good understanding of merchandizing and accounting. This individual must be at an intermediate level and work with minimal direction

Principal Accountabilities

40% - Support the supply chain in building, projecting, accounting and improving Cost of Goods Sold models for base and non-base business and alignment across various functions.

25% - Support with harvest sample program, seed quality and associated seed deliveries.

25% - Coordinate refining schedules for multiple products to meet oil demand and manage oil storage requirements. Provide input and participate in administrative processes or other miscellaneous duties related to Specialty Canola Programs.

10% - Support and provide guidance to execute on base business. Assists in continuous improvement required to optimize Program components and minimize cost.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance or agriculture.

  • Experience in supply chain – merchandising, accounting, or other.

  • Understanding of drivers/components of Cost of Goods and ability to identify, measure, track, and analyse.

  • Strong interpersonal & oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated initiative, analytical & problem solving skills.

  • Ability to perform accurately with multiple priorities and competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions.

  • Ability to develop new processes or recommend changes to processes within business activities.

  • Strong focus on continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and work effectively as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of merchandizing p&l or value-chain processing p&l management.

  • Working understanding of Cargill.

  • Strong knowledge accounting systems and processes. JDE
