The position holder will manage the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) agenda for Cargill’s European Protein UK Import and Distribution business. The role will provide an exciting opportunity to liaise with customers, suppliers, Cargill commercial, logistics and research and development (R&D) colleagues to ensure all Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance and Quality objectives are met and Cargill corporate requirements are understood and implemented. Responsible for ensuring all finished product suppliers to Cargill are approved and have in place systems that comply with Cargill corporate standards
Ensure that due diligence records are established for all products purchased by CPE and ensure all products comply to Cargill FSQR requirements
Ensuring the technical library of supplier information is maintained for externally sourced products and supervise the technical services support in order requirements are accurate, legal, up to date and complete
In the event of exceptions, negotiating with suppliers to find safe, practical and efficient solutions
Managing existing and develop technical relationships with customers to resolve FSQR related issues
Ensure systems are in place for supplying customer specifications, meeting customer policy requirements and dealing with customer complaints, should they arise
In the event of complains conducting complaint trend analysis and develop action plans for continuous improvement
Support Cargill commercial and R&D colleagues with customer visits as the FSQR and knowledge expert of the CPE UK team
Developing and maintaining the UK supply chain quality manual including HACCP, Supplier Assurance, Product Recall plans in line with BRC Importer and Broker requirements
Ensuring Cargill Supply Chain Colleagues are fully conversant and trained with FSQR policies
Keeping updated with developments on legal, labelling, food safety changes, customer requirements and supplier facility capabilities.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a relevant science subject (a Degree in a Food related subject is preferred)
Knowledge of Microbiology is advantageous
Proven experience in a comparable position in a food manufacturing environment
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant food legislation including but not limited to; Food labelling, Allergens, Food Safety, GMOs
The ability to influence multiple, complex stakeholders at different levels
Details orientated able to assess information for accuracy and relevance in order to understand the Food Safety implications
Ability to work with autonomy, set priorities and be accountable for own decisions, recognising when escalation is necessary
Excellent communication skills, verbally and written in fluent English and able to present to external stakeholders in an articulate manner
A recognised auditing qualification, with a lead auditor qualification being preferred
Experience dealing with product specifications and retailers and food manufacturers specifications and systems is advantageous
Computer literacy, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and SAP
The position holder will need to be flexible for European and global travel when necessary
The position holder will work with colleagues from different time zones in Brazil, Thailand, Europe and Asia and will need to demonstrate flexibility and cultural sensitivity.
