Description

The principle function of the Merchant is to be responsible for the procurement of identified ingredients within our multi-site manufacturing environment across Canada. The employee maintains relationships with suppliers (including the global buying group) for ingredient sourcing and supports the logistics process for incoming ingredients. Analyzes supply and demand factors and market trends to provide input to RMS Manager. Supervise a limited amount of team members to maintain optimal performance in OTIF metrics.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Negotiate pricing with suppliers, generate Purchase Orders and Contracts for Feed Ingredients

25% Manage reports for career development and increased performance

15% Execute and report the weekly position, pricing process, other purchasing reports

10% Report and understand the in/out movements of the ingredients from the formulas

5% Report fair market values for each ingredients and plants

5% Invoice and Payment investigations and solving

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

Must be able to prioritize, multitask and execute quickly, able to manage challenges and changes, and have an optimistic outlook on the world.

  • Proficient in the use of basic business software (Microsoft Office Package, Outlook and data management systems).

  • Post secondary education (Bachelor’s Degree)

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual language ability (French/English) and animal nutrition knowledge

  • 5 years’ experience in an Agriculture environment
